Rear Wheel Carts
The Eddie’s Wheels rear wheel carts sport an industry-leading design that works with the dog’s body rather than against it. Great for rehabilitation and recovery situations, the carts are designed to allow a natural range of motion vital to healing without compensatory issues. Each cart is custom built to meet the needs of the individual dog and can be upgraded to accommodate further mobility loss, common in degenerative conditions.
Standard Rear Wheel
These carts work best for dogs with normal strength in their front limbs and shoulders but who need assistance in the rear.
Neutral-Balanced
These carts are ideal for dogs with forelimb or shoulder pain or weakness common with conditions such as wobblers syndrome, degenerative myelopathy, elbow dyplasia, and carpus hyperextension.
Fully Counterbalanced
This cart style works best for dogs with serious forelimb disabilities. The special weighting system removes up to 40% of the weight borne on the front legs. This is the best solution for dogs with advanced degenerative myelopathy, cervical IVDD and osteoarthritis.
Variable Balance
This cart gives a dog the best of both worlds, by allowing the owner to adjust the support of the cart with a simple change to the wheel position. A great option for dogs recovering strength in the forelimbs following surgery or FCE, or dogs with degenerative conditions (rather than upgrades to a standard cart).
Common Applications
Front Wheel Carts
The Eddie’s Wheels front wheel carts address forelimb mobility challenges with a simple two-wheeled cart. No heavy body wraps. When balanced properly, this simple design allows a dog to maintain a more natural position by supporting healthy posture and conformation and encouraging a more articulated gait, rather than bunny hopping or sliding.
Dogs can easily sniff the ground, sit with their heads up high, walk with a flat back and comfortable posture, and most importantly — these dogs can play with other dogs.
Front wheel carts can present a steep learning curve for both owner and dog, but we’ll work with both to get you over that hill and rolling down the other side.
Common Applications
Custom Quad Carts
A quad cart can be the answer for a spirited but disabled dog. The dog is supported in the rear by a custom-welded, padded saddle that mirrors the shape of the dog’s pelvis. In front, the dog is supported by an adjustable, breathable mesh harness. All quad carts come with turning front wheels and a detachable tow handle.
Because the dog is held in a normal standing position, he can use his limbs as much as possible to propel the cart. If necessary, front and rear stirrups are available to gently lift paralyzed legs off the ground. A detachable headrest is also available to allow dogs recovering form cervical spine surgery to rest their heads, and to allow dogs to nap in the cart.
Quad carts are a terrific option for rehabilitation, as well as hospice care for dogs with degenerative diseases.
Common Applications
Adjustable Wheelchairs
An adjustable Walkin’ Wheels cart is a terrific short-term mobility option for dogs who can’t wait to get moving again.
